Magic Johnson’s Magic Formula
May 5th, 2014
by Bill Boyajian

At AGS Conclave 2014, in San Diego, Magic Johnson was the opening Keynote Speaker.  Not surprisingly, he was MAGIC!

  • “It’s not whether you can be successful, it’s how many people you can help make successful.”
  • “Are you still bringing the fire to your business every day?”
  • “Are you ready for change?  Can you adapt and adjust?”
  • “Can you move fast, but make sure that your brand is not diluted?”
  • “You’re in business to win, but you need to do things the right way!”
  • “There are no shortcuts to being successful.  Believe in over-delivering.”
  • “It’s good when people tell you that you can’t do something.”
  • “If you don’t dream it, you can’t achieve it.  Commitment to what you do is vital.”

These are the principles that Magic shared, and they have helped him transition from basketball star (and the ultimate team player) to an extraordinarily successful businessman.  The competitive spirit that made him a Hall of Famer and arguably the most charismatic leader in NBA history is the very same passion that makes him what he is today: a global brand name, yet the epitome of warmth, kindness, and truth.

We can all learn from Magic Johnson.  The real key is, will we?

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
