The New Year, or Is It?

It’s interesting how our minds work when we start a new year.  We use this time as a means of committing to do new things (resolutions) that we could easily begin any other day, week, or month of the year.  It just seems logical to do it in January because that seems to be a fresh new time to start something that we know we should have been doing all year long.

So it’s time to begin that exercise program, lose a few extra pounds, attack the stack of books you want to read, take more time with friends and family, become more mindful about business and life, or any number of other important things that we could surely begin any day of the year.  Every new month begins another 12-month year.  Even more importantly, every day is the first day in the rest of your life, so you can start something new whenever you want.

So the next time you know you need to make a change, start something new, or address an issue you’ve been putting off, don’t wait until January to do it.  We should never put off for next year what we know is important today.  Every new day is a gift, so let’s treat it that way in 2017.

Here are a few Business & Life Tips to think about….

Business Tips:

  • A leader’s role is to inspire people to do more, to be more, to want more, to achieve more, and to pass it on for others to follow.
  • It’s OK to pay people differently. Your top performers are often worth much more than the norm. It’s effectiveness that really counts.
  • When everyone knows that you start your meetings on time, they won’t be late more than once. If they are, you know what to do.

Life Tips:

  • New Year’s resolutions are a dime a dozen. Ask yourself this: What one thing needs to change in 2017? Then change it.
  • People who live in the past are most often tormented by it. The past is the past. Learn to look at the present and to the future.
  • When you see a problem at work that needs fixing, stop complaining, roll up your sleeves, and do something about it.

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
