To Be, or Not To Be, with People

Every business owner I work with has different needs, unique skills, and a bent one way or the other when it comes to employees, associates, and even customers.  Some need a strong affiliation with people while others want little to do with them.  It usually boils down to whether you are energized when working with people or whether you regard it as a nuisance to your valued time.

Leaders who derive strength and ideas from working with others usually love to build and develop a team of people behind them.  Those who prefer to work alone probably should because they tend to lose patience, or worse yet, expose their temper when dealing with people, which creates even more problems.

The key in all this is to understand what you prefer to do and what you don’t.  Sometimes you don’t have a choice because you need to do it all.  But often times there is a way to structure a business and the various roles and responsibilities in it for maximum effectiveness without breaking the bank or losing your mind.

If you need help doing this, contact someone you know and trust to help you.  There is simply too much at stake to go it alone.

Here are a few Business & Life Tips to think about…..

Business Tips:

  • People who love their workplace love the ‘idea’ behind it and also the ‘feeling’ they get from working there.
  • If you borrow money and profit from it, you’ve been wise. If you go into debt to acquire what you don’t need, you’ve been foolish.
  • Every sale is made with a series of small “yeses,” not one grandiose plea for the order. Capture your yeses and then close.

Life Tips:

  • Compassion reflects love and understanding. It is best shown when we know everything about someone, but love them anyway.
  • We tend to be content (even happy) with what we have until we see what others have. Contentment is a calming virtue to strive for.
  • Animals have a way of bringing joy into our lives. They allow us to care for something and be loved unconditionally.

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
