Top of Mind: November 5, 2015 November 5th, 2015 by Bill Boyajian |
My view of leadership extols the virtues of character, collaboration, modesty, and care, and I am passionate about this philosophy because it fosters good communication and consummate credibility. But not all highly-successful, results-driven leaders embody these traits. Fact is, many don’t, but are still effective. Take Steve Jobs, for example. Bold imaginative leader? Yes! Humble, caring leader? No! The key, of course, is not to hyper-analyze every leader’s personality and temperament type, but to look for results that demonstrate success in business, and, hopefully, in life. That’s why leadership is, in large part, situational. Different businesses and those at different stages in their history, may require different types of leaders in order to thrive, change direction, or even reinvent themselves. The leadership qualities that must exist for entrepreneurial start-ups are seldom the same as those needed for mature, developed companies. The same is true for organizations and even family transitions in business. Keep in mind that while the fundamentals of leadership are pretty constant, the style of leadership needed for different entities at different stages is situational. Analyzing the needs is important, so keep an open mind and consider what is needed for every situation.

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
