How Important is Positive Feedback? In a word, VITAL. When you own a company, run a division, or are in any way supervising employees, the value of positive feedback, recognition for work well done, or even just meaningful conversation between peers or subordinates is one of the most important factors that governs employee loyalty and longevity. In yet another recent study on employee happiness, positive feedback, recognition for work well done, feeling “in” on things, and being part of a successful team were all ranked highest in employee satisfaction and appreciation. We hear a lot about how the Millennial generation, now larger than the Baby Boom crowd, is so different from previous generations. Yes, they are a little different, but they are also quite similar. They want to work for people who value relationships, who create positive environments, and who reward exceptional work and dedication, all of which are traits appreciated by every human being. It’s simply part of our nature to want to be recognized and appreciated. Is it possible to overdue praise for work well done? Maybe. But only if the praise comes off as insincere or patronizing. So the next time you wonder why morale is low, people lack loyalty, or retention is a revolving door, think about how much positive reinforcement comes from leadership, and you may have the answer.

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
