Great Execution Trumps Great Ideas When people see the tremendous success of disrupters like Amazon, Airbnb, and Uber, many want to create the next big thing. But for most people, just creating a viable and successful small business would be good enough. Have you heard it said: “I had that idea years ago” or “he stole my idea?” I have, and I tire of it. A lot of people have good ideas, but a good idea is only as good as the execution of it into a product or service that delivers value and most often, a monetary reward. Few, if any people, can make a living by coming up with ideas. And the battleground of new ideas is littered with failed concepts and bankrupt businesses with leaders who still claim that their concept should have worked. You’re better off with a not-so-good idea in a field with a proven marketplace than a “this can’t fail” idea in an unproven market. You don’t need a great new idea to launch a successful new business. What you need is a good product or service that consumers want, a great way to develop and deliver it, and the hard work and perseverance necessary to bring it to fruition. Some entrepreneurs started selling with lemonade stands, candy bars, or girls scout cookies in grade school. Then they rose to tee-shirt shops and leather goods at swap meets before starting full-blown businesses that employ dozens or even hundreds of people. Most businesses are small businesses and require dedication, resources, and a never-say-die attitude to succeed. So if you have an idea, great. Figure out how to translate your idea into reality through great execution and a “failure is not an option” commitment. Do this and you might just have a successful new business, if not the next big disrupter. Here are a few Business & Life Tips to think about…. Business Tips:

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
