Exercising Discipline
January 17th, 2012
by Bill Boyajian

There is almost no substitute for hard work. The harder you work, the luckier you seem to get. Likewise, the more you put into something, the more you’ll get out of it. But as you mature in your leadership, learn to “work smarter, not harder.” This takes both a conscious effort and discipline.

There’s another old saying: If you want to get something done, ask a busy person to do it. I guess that works much of the time, but there are an awful lot of burnt-out busy people who wish they lad learned to say “no.” Not every project or cause is for you, so if it doesn’t fit your purpose in life, learn to pass. Every need is not a call.

Time is precious. We all have the same 24 hours in a day. Managing your time is really managing your life. It’s managing your leadership, too. I have a philosophy that has worked for me. I try not to do anything that someone else can do. OK. Sometimes I blow it. But that’s my goal each day, and the better I delegate, the more time I have.

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
