Do You Ever Feel Burnt Out?
January 26th, 2012

Do you ever feel burnt out? Are things moving at too fast a pace?

It is axiomatic– and a paradox– that what got you where you are today won’t take you where you want to go tomorrow. Nor will it keep you where you are without continuous growth and improvement. Leaders never stop learning. There are many formulas for success, but one formula for failure is to rest on your laurels. Trying to maintain the status quo will cause you to fall behind.

Many people try to cram two or three lifetimes into one, somehow thinking they’ll get more out of life. Often, they just run themselves ragged with an addiction to electronic devices that are supposed to make life easier but often just make it busier. And then they wonder why they’re so stressed and why life seems so difficult.

Try to find a pace you can keep without burning yourself out. You’ll travel further if you take time to refuel and enjoy the scenery. You can’t afford to lose the leadership role you’ve worked so hard to achieve. So pace yourself and find some balance. You’ll be happier and healthier and won’t regret missing so much of life that just seemed to pass you by. Leadership is great, but life comes first.

So leadership isn’t a sprint– it’s a long-distance race. Race to win by pacing yourself and learning from each experience. Continuous learning is not just adding skills to your resume; it’s adding maturity to your personality, temperament, and demeanor. Experience has a way of refining your leadership, particularly if you reflect on it, and that in turn helps take you to the next level.

Remember, if things are moving too fast, slow down and settle on a pace that helps you enjoy life, business, family and friends.

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
