How to Become More Strategic in Business July 23rd, 2023 by Bill Boyajian |
All business owners and managers think of themselves as good strategists. But few really are. The key to being strategic lies in the delegation of day-to-day duties. This starts with sales because owners and managers who are responsible for more that 25% of the book of business find it difficult to get away, let alone have time to think and to plan. Being strategic means you focus a fair amount of your time – preferably a day a week – on strategies that will grow and develop your business. The only way you can create the time to do this is to relieve yourself of duties that someone else can do as well as you. The problem I most often encounter is the challenge of “letting go” of your operational role in order to focus on your strategic role. You may have no one to turn to for help, which is part of yet a different problem. You may not want to let go of something because you truly enjoy it. Or you might feel that no one can perform the role the way you do. Regardless of the reason, if you really want to be strategic in your business, you need to have the time to think and to plan. That can only come when you release duties, get out of the weeds, and rise above the minutia to be strategic. If you need help doing so, contact me and I’ll give you some time. “I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
