On Recruiting May 8th, 2018 by Bill Boyajian |
I flew to meet with one of my new clients the other day. He is beginning the process of transitioning his business and wanted me to see the operation and meet with his key people. One has been with him 14 years, another 3 years. I asked how he met the latter, and he said she was a barista in a coffee shop he frequented. He was so impressed with her attitude and service that he offered her a job on the spot, which has now turned into a career for her. When I met with her, I could see why he hired her. Recruiting isn’t always this easy, but for the owner who is alert and open-minded, it can be. I once met a woman who was doing volunteer work with a nonprofit. She devoted a whole day to working with us on a major project. When the day was done, I was so impressed that I told her I would offer her a job if she only lived on the west coast. She told me not to let a coast get in my way. We brought her out and had her interview with eight different people. Most were unsure, but I wasn’t. I knew she was a star. One of my directors liked her and hired her for a job we had yet to clearly define. No matter. She came aboard and within two years doubled her salary and became a director in the company. I hear a lot of complaints from owners and entrepreneurs that they can’t find good people. Sometimes they’re in our daily path if we only take the time to look. “I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
