Seek Compromise While Being Decisive

The most decisive leaders are extremely self-confident. They know their objectives, follow their values, and stay on course. These are terrific traits to build upon. Your leadership will always be questioned when you skirt confrontation, lack decisiveness, or tiptoe around thorny issues.

Seek a variety of opinions, the more diverse the better. Your greatest detractors will give you the best input. They’ll be extreme, but it’s good to hear what they have to say. They’re your unpaid consultants. You don’t have to use their advice. Just factor it into you thinking. Knowing the extremes of an issue will help you find the middle. You may not want a centrist decision, but you’ll never identify the midpoint of a decision-making process without first knowing where the boundaries lie.
