Speak to Groups with a Few Key Goals in Mind July 27th, 2012 by Bill Boyajian |
When I taught my children how to drive, I had one very clear purpose in mind: Keep them alive! From this, I had just three basic rules: • Stay in your lane and blend in with the flow of traffic. I used to tell them one more thing when I gave them the keys to the car: If you die young, chances are it will be in a car. That was usually enough to get my point across. My children could still recite these principles years later. When you communicate with your staff at work, the committee you’re running at church, the Little League team you’re coaching, or the orchestra you’re conducting, be sure to keep a few key goals at the top of your mind — and theirs. Such goals stem from your mission or purpose in leading that particular area. They should be easy to remember and should be written somewhere and repeated often to keep things on track. According to Jeffrey Immelt, chairman and CEO of General Electric Corporation, “Every leader needs to clearly explain the top three things the organization is working on. If you can’t do this, you can’t lead.” It is easy to lose focus and fail to communicate often enough or with clarity. Keeping your purpose in front of you, with your goals in mind, will help. “I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
