Pet Peeves

We’ve all got them.  Here are mine:

  • People boarding an airplane with a backpack who have no idea how many people they bump into when they swing around.
  • Drivers who mindlessly stay in the fast lane even though they see cars passing them on the right.
  • Golfers who don’t rake sand traps properly and leave bad lies for the next guy who lands in the bunker.
  • Millennials who want what their parents have even though they haven’t worked for it and don’t deserve it.
  • Parents who are so hard-headed about their children that they risk losing them emotionally.
  • Salaried employees who don’t give a full 40 hours of work for 40 hours of pay.  Actual time worked is usually much less than that.
  • Flight attendants who think they own the airline just because they’ve got 40 years of tenure.
  • Neighbors who don’t keep up their yards and show no pride of ownership in their home.
  • Restaurant servers who expect a good tip when they give mediocre service, or worse.
  • Wash basin sensors in public rest rooms that simply don’t work.
  • Seemingly endless computer-generated phone menus that never get you to where you need to go, let alone ever allow you to speak to a human.

Here are a few Business & Life Tips to think about….

Business Tips:

  • The most important skill in a negotiation is the ability to see a situation as the other party sees it, as difficult as that can be.
  • In sales, if someone isn’t returning messages after a third call, send them a hard copy note saying you’ll be there when they need you.
  • When speaking to one person or a thousand, keep your audience in mind. Speak in plain language that everyone can understand.

Life Tips:

  • When we look back at each day, the thing we dwell on the most is the worst thing that happened. Instead, reflect on the best thing.
  • What frustrates us? Smart phones with static and computer searches that aren’t instantaneous. What would grandma think?
  • You can always earn more money, but you can’t earn more time. You have no guarantee of any time, so use what you have wisely.

“I needed help orchestrating a succession plan for our business. I had heard that Bill Boyajian specialized in assisting owners to transition their business to the next generation. He knows how to bridge the generation gap and deliver what each needs to hear. I would recommend Bill to any business owner who needs advice on succession planning from a trusted outside professional.”

"Our family needed some guidance on business transition and succession planning. We asked Bill Boyajian to help us because we knew we could trust him to tell us what we needed to hear. Bill became a valuable resource for our company and our entire family. He has the ability to meet each of us where we’re at and it has served us very well."

“We needed a plan to transition our business to a non-family member and we asked Bill Boyajian to help us. His experience in the area has really paid off, but we didn’t expect the added value of putting us together with a financial planner who helped organize our retirement needs. We now have the fundamentals to transition our business successfully, and we have Bill to thank for it.”
